Does Microsoft use the same phased rollout approach for Windows 11 as it did with Windows 10?

Yes. Microsoft will offer Windows 11 to the first machines it believes will enjoy Windows 11 (based upon its testing, telemetry, and self-hosting). Microsoft claims that by 2022, all eligible Windows 10 devices will be able to obtain Windows 11.

Are Insider Beta and Release preview Channels able to upgrade to Win 11 from their final builds? Or do you need to install a fresh copy?

Does Windows 11 have an expiration date? Or will it be available to all users who have a valid license key?

It seemed for a time that Microsoft would allow virtual machines to bypass the new Windows 11 hardware requirements. This loophole is now closed.

Windows 11 on VMs will follow the same hardware requirements ( ) as physical PCs. To ensure compliance with Windows 11 VMs running on Azure, customers using Windows 11 VMs should use Trusted Launch. This will enable TPM 2.0 and secure boots as part of the VM configuration.

Windows 11 and Azure Virtual Desktop now support Trusted Launch. This allows for TPM 2.0 to be enabled and secure boot on virtual machines.

Windows 365 Enterprise/Cloud PC support Windows 11 from October 5.

Microsoft will still allow users with systems that don’t meet the Microsoft hardware requirements for Windows 11 to install it and run it at their own risk.

Yes. Yes. Users who accept the uncertainty about compatibility issues and Microsoft’s claim it may not provide all security upgrades to users running Windows 11 on non-supported hardware can still do so. Officials say that users can bypass hardware checks by using Media Creation Tool to either do a clean install or bare metal. Officials say that although we don’t know the exact timeframe for Microsoft to maintain this option, it appears they have no plans to do so shortly.
